Leslie
Lawson is the Employer Relations and Internship Coordinator
for the University of California, Merced. Leslie focuses
on marketing the campus and establishing relationships
with area employers in order to present various practical
experience opportunities to the students of UC Merced.
Leslie joined the Career Services Center staff in 2006
with over 13 years of experience in marketing, public
relations, sales and management.
Born
in Gustine and raised in Los Banos, Leslie graduated
from Los Banos High School. She then moved to Merced
where she attended Merced Junior College. During this
time, Leslie started working for Rim Hospitality a hotel
management company based in Modesto, California. Here
she had the opportunity to gain hands on experience
operating and managing the sales of hotels and motels
throughout California and Oregon. Leslie was employed
by Rim Hospitality for 7 years. During her employment
in Modesto she also spent 3 years working as the Senior
Sales Manager for the Modesto Convention and Visitors
Bureau. In this position, she promoted Modesto as a
destination to meeting, sports, reunions, and convention
planners.
In
2004, Leslie had the opportunity to work in the community
she called home as the Executive Director of the Merced
Conference and Visitors Bureau. She later explored working
at Merced’s local community theatre as the Sales
and Marketing Director for Playhouse Merced. Ultimately,
the experience she gained from these positions poised
her for the position she currently holds at UC Merced. |
